Open Evening.

On Thursday evening we were delighted to have our Open Evening to welcome learners and their families from Year Five and Year Six who will be joining us in September 2016 or September 2017.

It was great to see so many parents and learners looking at the school.  We had by far our highest numbers ever.  This really demonstrated the growing confidence in the community that Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan is the right school for learners to 'Dare to Achieve' in.

Many parents commented on the way all the areas of the school were focussed on fun and engaging learning.  Many also commented on how polite the learners were and how positively they speak about their school.  As Headteacher I am so proud of this and know that this is the reality of our school every day.

This was also a great opportunity to introduce our Head Boy and Head Girl to the school community.
They shared their reflections on the school and how it has supported them into becoming the model learners that they are now.

We are happy to welcome parents during the school day to look around the school.  If you would like to arrange a visit please contact the reception and myself or a member of my leadership team will show you around the school.

Should you wish to apply to the school please complete the schools application form and the application form for Conwy or Denbighshire Schools depending on where you are resident.  Applications must be received by  20th November 2015.

First week back

It has been great to be back at school this week.  The week started with a training day.  As always this is a day to reflect on the achievements of the last year and plan the improvements for this year.  It was great to see the commitment from all staff to make sure that we continue to go from strength to strength.  I really am excited about this year.

Seeing all the learners return to school is always the highlight of the first week.  It's a pleasure to see them in their correct uniform and prepared for the challenges of the year head.  Each year group had their assembly and we shared with them their successes from last year.

We also received some great news as a school.  We have been awarded the Catch Up Silver Award.  This recognises the excellent work that goes on to make sure that learners make progress in Literacy and Numeracy.  We were delighted!
